I loved Cafe Colonial and it was a part of "New York" to me. everything about it: the tiny dining space, the homemade veggie burger, the cheap red wine and the rude waitresses. Many a first date was spent here as well as humid Summer nites on the patio seating.
Let the inevitable metamorphose into yet another Duane Reade begin.
-Sigh-
Oh, I know, this is so sad!!! They were around for 15 years, they opened when NoLita was still sort of tiny. I hate seeing these great NYC businesses close. If this turns into a duane reade or another bank, I will be so heartbroken, sigh! xoxol
