Which Dior Fall 2013 Couture Pieces Will Marion Cotillard Don???

Ooh, it's hot and gross out. Let's play fantasy dream sequence and try and guess which pieces from Raf Simons' Fall 2013 couture collection hired face, Marion Cotillard, will wear?

Lunch Lady

It doesn't matter that it's 96 degrees in the shade, Marion stays cool as a cucumber in her layered skirt shift, perfect for a power-high-tea at Mariage Freres

Deep Blue Something

Yes, diva! Marion knows Madame only has one chance to make a grand entrance. Enter the room with bold, royal colors to let everyone know whose Fiefdom this is, honey!

Gym Clothes

Braving the elements doesn't mean you can't bear a little leg. Afterall, the misses does not attend the Cerles de la Forme for rien, mon ami!

Fashion Column

M. Cotillard just loves a column dress, cheri. And now, thanks to dear, dear Raf, the column dress can actually look like a column. Finalement! Someone who gets it.

Tis the Season for Nutcracker Stallkers and French Whore Getups

I can't, honey.

I just can't!

Can't stop loving this W Magazine December 2012 shot of Marion Cotillard in Dolce & Gabbana, a bob and a lecherous nutcracker that is. Cheers!

Let's Talk about Dior, Baby

The damsels of Dior have been out and about showcasing the new looks from Raf Simons.

But as underwhelming as the Spring Couture and Spring 2013 collections were in my humble opinion, some stylish ladies made it look hot, while some, did not.

The best

(Marion Cotillard)                     (Leelee Sobieski)                              (Marisa Tomei)

Marion Cotillard is the face of Dior and she, more than anyone else, has been rocking the catalog of couture and ready to wear. This strapless and long skirt combo is French fashion's version of casual cute.

Marisa Tomei worked choppy stripes and ankle monitor pumps, honey.

But the best of the best, HAS to be Leelee Sobieski: ladylike, sleek lines and a devil may care nonchalance. Ohh la la, darlin!

The Yuk

(Emma Watson)                                (Jessica Biel)                      (Jennifer Lawrence)

Emma Watson has the excuse of being too young to remember that awful 90's pants under a dress trend. However, I assume she has a mirror?

Side well pockets? Yes, because women want girth added to their hips. And the length of this mess is making Jessica Biel look short and stumpy.

Wow. Jennifer Lawrence. Wow.

VOGUE-sicles!

The September issues are out in full effect but until I get my hands on the Lady Gaga American Vogue, I casually poured through the August issue with Marion Cotillard.

Buried deep what should I unearth but recipes! In VOGUE! How dare they!

Granted they were for popsicles, which seems like one of those Get Out of Jail Free items for models to consume, so I figured, when in Vogue?

Of course I chose the Caipirinha which included a new fangled (for my whiteness) Brazilian rum, Cachaรงa, which despite Wikipedia informing me is pronounced "Ca-SHAH-sa", Ms GL and I had a hoot shouting "Ca-Shock-Ka!" during the whole boozy process

After muddling some lime, straining some sugar and making a mess, the results were Ca-shocking!

Child, I'd never have had the VOGUE idea to make me own ice pops.

Forget you Edy's

And here's to sneak attack public drinking! Heyyyyy!

Marion Cotillard La Vie en Rose on Marie Claire UK August 2012 Cover

Marion Cotillard, a favorite around the It Can't All Be Dior offices, is a French rose of loveliness on the UK Marie Claire August cover

I can't help but notice the cover's subtle fading sunlight and rosy tones reminding us that Summer is waning (oh shucks)

We'll Always have "Midnight in Paris"

Last nite Mr Taurus and I had a sweet date nite at BAM to see Woody Allen's latest, "Midnight in Paris".

Yet another Allen flick set in a European capital rather than his home turf, Paris, like London and Barcelona before it, provides a renaissance of inspiration. Allen hasn't been this creative and smart and light in awhile with the plot centering on an American writer in Paris nostalgic for the great times of the expat Lost generation. Soon, through an easy, breezy unexplained fantasy turn, he is hobnobbing with those great literary and artistic giants he's idolized for so long

Cast is great with Alison Pill doing a mighty fine Zelda Fitzgerald

And sexy thang Adrien Brody turning up for a quick, delightful Salvador Dali

I wasn't mad for Rachel McAdams' nag of an ungrateful shrew, but I guess that was her role, so split hairs

(You know you're a frigid B when you can't find the romance in Paris)

Owen Wilson is pretty great as the protagonist and he manages to pull off sweet and naive without being a twit. His chemistry with Marion Cotillard as a 1920's French mistress of Pablo Picasso is not as heavy handed or obsessive as it can be in an Allen flick

As for the writing, there are a lot of great quips playing up public personas and the myths of these famous folks, but also on bougie white people, infidelity, where inspiration comes from and the plague of the proverbial "grass is greener".

Allen himself could be a victim of this "what he used to be" type of neglect for the now, the present works. In a funny twist, the flapper played by Marion Cotillard tires of the 20's instead longing for the Belle Epoque of Paris. She's exactly where Wilson thought was the perfect idealistic time, yet she's at unease and bored. A nice reminder that we must forget skewed daydreams about rose colored years gone by and live in the now.

French VOGUE

I see VOGUE took my suggestion to ELLE back in April, that Marion Cotillard is a modern woman who happens to be an actress and stylish.

I don't get the chance to say this often, but kudos American VOGUE!

The ELLE Switch-a-roo

What's up magazines? In a financial tailspin, you'd think they'd step up the creativity and glamour to capture the attention of an ever A.D.D. audience.

This is the May 2010 cover of ELLE. I subscribe so I get a "special" cover with the implication it is more geared towards readers invested in beautiful, inspiring imagery.

Meh.

And Fergie, really?!

This is the inside right panel of a DIOR ad with Marion Cotillard and my suggestion for a cover style and subject for subscriber covers (less room for headlines is needed since you've already "bought" the magazine, so fill the page dramatically).

Leaps more dreamy. I know firsthand that ad budgets are imense compared to editorial, but I would dare the idea and the casting is what makes DIOR captivating.

A washed up girl who used to sing about her lovely lady lumps and that no one considers fashionable is NOT the right choice for a fashion magazine. Plain and simple.

Meanwhile Ms. Cotillard radiates French chic and makes me want the clothes and to know more about her, her upcoming projects and her style know how. Makes me wanna buy the magazine and support its vision and the vision of its advertisers (and think how gorgeous ads would be if editorials ramped it up and made this ad the normal!)

Just a small rant from a magazine editor feeling a general lackluster laziness taking hold of his beloved field.

Disclaimer: This is just an example. By no means is ELLE solely guilty.
