Yellow has proven a strong trend leader for Spring 2012, will its dominance carry over?

Perhaps we'll crave for gemtone swatches of amethyst and sapphire when the temps finally dip this year (clearly Winter has gracefully bowed out for now, so for us cold weather lovers our eyes already turn to the far off bookend of hope)

Or will the upset be that after a Spring awash in the color spiked punch of pastels and vibrant hues, Fall will revert back to bleak black and boring beige?

It's been slowly eeking its way into a borderline neutral shade for a few seasons now and has proven strong on red carpets and editorials, perhaps green will have its red moment and cross over to the closets of the color-phobic.

The Dior Continues to Swing...

Women's Wear Daily reports that talks with just moments ago front runner Marc Jacobs "have come to a halt" and LVMH has "stepped up the pace and depth of negotiations with other designers"

That's good news as Jacobs' vision is clearly suited for Louis Vuitton with the proof in continued sales growth under his guide.

But the disheartening news here is this buried bit that "it is understood Alexander Wang, Raf Simons and Jason Wu are among some of the candidates recently approached."

(Marc could be out, but which of these other names could really be "in"?)

Yikes! While Raf would be the best of that lineup given his penchant for imaginative and modern plays on color and print, Phoebe Philo's minimalist work at Celine already kind checks that box

New talent Jason Wu still needs to find his way and that Alexander Wang is no Dior heir! I'm sorry I know gals love his loose and shapeless, but damn if I can at all see him designing for the 21st century lady of Dior.

What Does the Louis Vuitton Woman Smell Like?

                              
According to Women's Wear Daily, Louis Vuitton is meeting with a third generation scent master (yeah imagine the pressure of that lofty title the next time you groan about your workload) to craft a signature perfume.


But that got me to thinking of duality. Louis Vuitton is one of the many labels over the years that in order to stay relevant has courted a younger market including street artists, rappers and reality tv stars. Will this scent represent the lady who wears dominatrix to the MET Ball or the ubiquitous LV logo over a pair of high top sneakers?

One could also word this as will it be more Marc Jacobs or Phoebe Philo (allegedly) ??

Two years ago, Louis Vuitton installed a couple of beehives on its Parisian rooftop to test out urban bee keeping. Now the "fruits" of the bees' labor is being jarred and distributed to a lucky few fashion folks still dabbling in carbs.

Jealousy!


And to celebrate, select Louis Vuitton stores (like the 57th street store in New York) will feature bags strewn from liquid gold stands reminiscent of oozy honey flocked with bees

Very Important for Fall: An Absurd Hat

Look, I have been a lifelong advocate of self-expression and the wearing of accessories past, but these "Grand Hotel" bellhop hats from Louis Vuitton, I feel are responsible for this wack-a-doo trend of ridic hats on heads

Umm, Christopher Bailey, you're super cute and all, but fuzzy dalmatian print hats haven't worked since Jay Kay rode a conveyor belt around a tiny room. Not really sure they worked then....

Ladies, in the morning do you ask yourself "Am I a world famous model shot by Steven Meisel in clothes by Miucca Prada?" Or is it just me? Either way, hats with chin straps made of that itchy Easter "grass" that gets everywhere and that your cat's always eating and then throwing up are not proper toppers. Sorry.

Three Makes it a Trend: Suicidal Nature

Look nature, I know I may have been rough in my tone this morning. I may have yelled at you for this ridiculous Summer heat and thunderstorms at the end of April, but please, don't take any cues from the recent surge in suicidal nature scenes in retail

1. de Castellane Gallery on Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn

Admittedly there's a lot to question about this bi-polar Park Slope space (is it a gallery? is it a vintage store? why the snowy wilderness NOW?), but look close and you'll notice one distressed puss

2. Ksubi on Mulberry Street


Australian jean shop, Ksubi, is one of those overpriced dirty hipster stores from the overpriced dirty hipster heyday. Now you only take notice of it on your walk to the grocery store because of the creepy long haired guy either loitering or "working" and its weird ass windows featuring gas masks and these birds drinking the kool-aid

How is this selling hip-huggers?

(Hard to make out the kamikaze sparrows. Easy to make out that long haired creepy guy.)

3. Louis Vuitton on 57th Street

Wee ostriches are so distraught by their momma being used as a glorified coat rack at Louis Vuitton, they sell themselves down the river before they've even hatched

And with Spring finally here couldn't you just see girls (and some astute boys, of course) wearing these little danglers of design and drama with their rolled sleeve blazers? Or magnifying all those prints that are so omnipresent right now? In fact I kinda like the idea of a 70's Shanghai Louis Vuitton style gal pulling up her chain monocle to give you an icy glare. Maybe that's vision of Bond girls dancing in my head again....

Either way, I'ma troll the vintage stores on the lookout for one of these that isn't so expensive you've gotta request the price.
