Prada Says Keep Your 3-D Glasses

You know those 3-D glasses ubiquitous at the glut of remakes and half bakes filling the theaters of late?

Well, Prada says don't toss 'em, wear 'em

Or at least that's what I see in these new men's Fall 2013 ads
featuring movie men not models natch

Bonus HIPSTER smarties featured on this cute boy
(I have no idea who is or what he's been in)

Three Reasons I'm Crushing on the Handsome Ass Dollar Shave Club Guy

Ok, I'll admit "Mike" is a bit white-bread d-bag for my usual tastes, but there's something about how cocky and sardonic he is in his youtube sensation viral marketing.

PLUS he's got these three other things going for him:

1. He's sporty - "I'm good at tennis," he says with a missed volley. But that's fine because...

2. He's history nerd lite - "Your handsome ass grandfather only had one blade. And polio."
Ooh, archaic disease references will forever earn a place in my heart. Just ask Oregon Trail.

3. He's frugal - D'uh

Surely, I'm not alone in my shave and save lust???

Sometimes It Can Be: Dior's "Secret Garden" and Depeche Mode

Yes, Raf. YES! This latest installment of the 'Secret Garden' promotional art videos for Dior features divine art influences, rich French landscapes and sleek fashions all set to the new wave perfection of Depeche Mode's "Behind the Wheel"  (off the anthemic brilliance that was the "Music for the Masses" album)

There's a certain art school coolness attached to this icy new wave strumming over gallery-ready ready to wear against watercolor scenery (this is not the first fab fashion house that's banked on the slick synths of Depeche Mode to sell perfume

PS: Genius DIY project inspiration of CD pearlized opera glasses. Ooh, come on rainy day!

Comeback Week: Lucky Jeans

"Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Inc.’s Lucky day might be coming soon.

The men’s wear retailer has emerged as a surprise bidder in the auction for Fifth & Pacific Cos. Inc.’s Lucky Brand division, which is also being pursued by a financial player, according to sources. "

Fifth and Pacific is looking to unload its jean brand, Lucky Brand (along with Juicy Couture), to focus on its blossoming and promising Kate Spade brand.

At first the business community didn't think F+P would get the $400 million it was asking for Lucky, but with buyers circling (including Jos. Bank, which has $$$ to burn and a need to acquire a new brand so it can grow further) and a new Fall 2013 campaign starring the legend Lauren Hutton

Lucky might be having its biggest moment in a lifetime, honey.

THanks for the AD: Gisele Gives Good Face?

Johan Lindeberg, the mastermind behind BLK DNM, knows the value of a well placed Gisele is your ad. But usually designers rely on her face, hair or toned and tanned physique to sell their wares.

I was first taken aback by the lack of visage or recognizable parts in this street ad

What a waste of money. You KNOW Gisele don't come cheap! And then you don't even put her face in it, you don't even let people know it's Gisele, outside her name?? What are you insane???

And then I remembered: jeans are all about fit particularly how they make the butt look. And nobody got a high and tight like Mrs. Bunchen-Brady

Thanks, I'll take 6 pairs!

So kudos to you, Mr. Lindeberg, you advertising genius.

Thanks for the Ad: Ann Taylor Loft's Shoe Fairy Tale

Or the old lady who lived in a shoe. Or the girl with the red dancing shoes. Or Carrie Bradshaw. Any of these fairy tales will illustrate how the right footwear can make or break you.

And with Ann Taylor Loft you know you're getting a pair that's fun and fresh at prices that won't ruin the fantasy.

Thanks for the Memorial Day Weekend Ad: The Magic of Macy's?

I don't know if it's that magic they always talkin' about, but I kinda want this star print shirt on this model

Maybe it's the capital in the background or the subway campaign being completely shot in my old backyard of D.C. but I am feelin' this shirt with my French Connection red shorts and no shoes. And margaritas. Ah, the countdown for the Memorial Day four day weekend has begun, honey!

Benetton Ad Employs Topical Punch

With the presidential debate still ringing in our ears and news outlets reporting more and more world economy doom and gloom, unemployment remains the big issue on everyone's mind.

Nowhere is this more evident than in parts of Europe with an Eurozone unemployment rate at 11% in August. Greece, Spain and Italy have been particularly hard hit.

It should come as no surprise then that Italian fashion label, Benetton, no stranger to political and controversial ads, has put this issue, with a major focus on unemployable young people, front and center

(Photos courtesy of Benetton)

This is a great opportunity to give a voice to the struggles of the freshly minted workforce and to support their innovation through funding by a large backer like Benetton

Plus they got a free suit out of it. Bring on the interviews!

Face it: These Eclairs Have a Better Life than You

Fauchon, the venerated French cookie line is giving me my dose of annual "why don't we Americans have the month of August off" envy with their Summer campaign

I mean why am I not sunning and coordinating like this apricot number?

Or being sprinkled with silver leaf like this strawberry-lime lovely about to take a quick dip?

Instead of writing about ill fitting sweaters, I could be sliding up to the bar as cool as a cucumber ---urr,  Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean.

-sigh- I guess this is how the cookie crumbles...

There's something so 'My Name is Dita, I'll be your mistress tonite' about Shalom's role in Jason Wu Fall 2012 ads
