This Week's Project Runway Moment

Christina Ricci!

Way to start season 9 off with a bang! Maybe like a similarly long in the tooth modeling show, you're just gonna pull in big name guest judges to mask fading originality.

Either way, having worked with Ms. Ricci in the past, she was an inspired choice for the premiere. She's just as sweet and quirky in real life as her public persona and I think she made for a sympathetic first judge.

Now the big question: who do you thinks gonna fill the guest judge seat this season? Any guesses, Christina?

Well I'm putting my wish list out there right now: Michelle Obama, Mr. Mickey, Christopher Bailey, Loulou de la Falaise and fellow Mermaid, Winona Ryder!

Very Important for Fall: An Absurd Hat

Look, I have been a lifelong advocate of self-expression and the wearing of accessories past, but these "Grand Hotel" bellhop hats from Louis Vuitton, I feel are responsible for this wack-a-doo trend of ridic hats on heads

Umm, Christopher Bailey, you're super cute and all, but fuzzy dalmatian print hats haven't worked since Jay Kay rode a conveyor belt around a tiny room. Not really sure they worked then....

Ladies, in the morning do you ask yourself "Am I a world famous model shot by Steven Meisel in clothes by Miucca Prada?" Or is it just me? Either way, hats with chin straps made of that itchy Easter "grass" that gets everywhere and that your cat's always eating and then throwing up are not proper toppers. Sorry. 

Doin' It: Three Bit Sweater

Shown proceeding a series of coats with riding bits as closures, this Burberry Prorsum sweater at first seemed like yet another entry. But it's a sweater with no need for closures. The bits are just accent and cheeky for their placement. Rascally Christopher Bailey.

A few weeks ago I wrote how there was none of the usual hype for this year's Costume Institute Ball at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Well where there's no smoke, there's none of that fire. And last nite was in desperate need of a bellow.
