Linda Evangelista's Court Couture... Which is Your Favorite Look?

Someone just made this mother's day!

Linda's battles for child support from French fashion mogul François-Henri Pinault have ended in a secret settlement which means two things:

1. She could have won that $46,000 / month for "child support". That's a lot of Muse bags PPR's gonna have to push! (Or unfortunate Burger King commercials for wife Selma Hayek)

2. No more Prada coolness from Her Evangelista-ness.

Like Naomi, Winona and hell, even Lindsay before her, Linda worked that courtroom couture selling the media on her good girl wronged vibe (although maybe not a convincing single mom in need look)

(Ever the 'supe', Linda never misses a camera angle to work)

So which of her law-suits fit her best?

Personally I wouldn't get out of bed for less than that swingy grey contrast black jacket in pic two.

This Week's Project Runway Moment

Christina Ricci!

Way to start season 9 off with a bang! Maybe like a similarly long in the tooth modeling show, you're just gonna pull in big name guest judges to mask fading originality.

Either way, having worked with Ms. Ricci in the past, she was an inspired choice for the premiere. She's just as sweet and quirky in real life as her public persona and I think she made for a sympathetic first judge.

Now the big question: who do you thinks gonna fill the guest judge seat this season? Any guesses, Christina?

Well I'm putting my wish list out there right now: Michelle Obama, Mr. Mickey, Christopher Bailey, Loulou de la Falaise and fellow Mermaid, Winona Ryder!

Vous êtes Monocle!

Would an "eyeglass necklace" by another name not look as sweet?

(Vintage Chanel Eyeglass Necklace, price upon request at Resurrection Vintage Online,

Slap any name on it you want, Resurrection Vintage but it will always be a "chain monocle".

And I got my share of fashion friends that agree it's about time this look came back

(Madonna, duh)

(Natalia Vadianova and Hermes)

(Johnny Depp)

(and Winona, forever)

And with Spring finally here couldn't you just see girls (and some astute boys, of course) wearing these little danglers of design and drama with their rolled sleeve blazers? Or magnifying all those prints that are so omnipresent right now? In fact I kinda like the idea of a 70's Shanghai Louis Vuitton style gal pulling up her chain monocle to give you an icy glare. Maybe that's vision of Bond girls dancing in my head again....

Either way, I'ma troll the vintage stores on the lookout for one of these that isn't so expensive you've gotta request the price.

Blank Swan

Went to see "Black Swan" with Mr Taurus last nite and now I'm left feeling a heightened sense of longing

(you certainly look the part...)

This movie's successes were all on the shoulders of the supporting cast starting with Mila Kunis as a sexually delectable frenemy jutting in and out of scenes with ripe hips and lips and baby doll eyes. How could one resist such a morsel of temptation?

Winona Ryder was in great form but had too few moments to shine as the once Queen. Each time on screen, however, a faded glory crackled with the remnants of wit, beauty and power of the former "It Girl" and she had the most chilling moment of all involving a common nail file and some powerful neurosis

Vincent Cassel's domineering Lothario wants to teach Natalie Portman how to break out of her perfect lacquer, but alas he cannot

And this is my big fault with the movie: Natalie Portman is stale. Dull. Blank.

Yes, I know she was cast to play the role of a limp perfectionist but she's also supposed to have an about-face and flourish in her heathen new role and despite the script telling me otherwise, I didn't see it. Ms Portman never sheds her milquetoast veneer

As a lifelong dancer himself, Mr Taurus saw more in the film, felt the rigor, the pain, the dedication and was  impressed with Portman's commitment to studying the movements of a ballerina

In drastic comparison, my only gripe with Ms Kunis is her obvious faking it. She's supposed to be the runner up in the ballet troupe, yet who'd give such sloppy, loose moves the silver?

The movie overall was a bit comme ci, comme ça. Maybe it's all the hype. Maybe it's that I'm under the weather right now (too much birthday partying. oy.)

Sadly I believe the more logical answer is it's another case of "Down with Love" where the movie would have been great if only they'd not cast such a dud of a leading lady.    -sigh-
