Doin' It: Last Night's Viral Fashion Relaunch Party

I write for an online fashion magazine, Viral Fashion (in case ya' didn't know) and last night Mr Taurus put on our Summer best and attended the relaunch party (new fancy website: check it) at Soho gallery, Yellow Korner

(As the menswear editor, you know I had to kill it in a vintage Madonna "Who's That Girl?" concert t-shirt, suspenders, paper bag waist pants and my fave carpet bag) 
















(Mr Taurus was Summer fashion diva ready in his mesh jersey tank and cutoffs with a vintage luggage bag. Cutie.)

Madonna may be a lot of things, but she's never been one to miss an opportunity. The Met Ball's theme this year is Punk and Chaos and having come up in the New York post-punk dance and art scene, Madonna has a special proto-version of punk and how it affected the NYC scene

Mostly, though, this b*tch knows how to shut it down 

She is workin' that custom Givenchy (although the color choice of her Casadei shoes, hot pink, as punk is a little too Hot Topic in my opinion) 

And extra props for the padlock necklace with the very special duplicitous "M" in the signature Met font 

Sneaky sneak! 

Whose Instagram Do You Follow?

In addition to the usual fashion fare (Barney's, Kirna Zabete, Colette, etc) and models / fashion folk (Coco Rocha, Steven Kolb, Kate Spade New York, etc) 

I also check in with Pantone for the freshest take in color, Peter Som for runway, recipes and relaxation 











And, of course, Rihanna. Because that B puts her whole life on Instagram blast. Seriously, does she not have a handler for that???

The Best End of Year List Yet

It's that time of year when people reflect on the past 12 months and every smarmy face journalist with a beige office writes some tepid greatest hits list of the year. 

But GQ Magazine got it right, sending off the celebs that made 2012 a bit more meh.

Gwen Stefani Becomes More and More Like Madonna...

Gwen Stefani hit the MTV European Music Awards with her ska 90's band No Doubt last night in Frankfurt, Germany 

Dressed in her lady-of-a-certain-age draped silks on the red carpet, the transformation into Madonna really is visible

 but it was on stage that it was clear that it's more than the material, girl, that makes the Madge

From the tall boots, to the menswear influence and fishnets, and, of course, the controversial finger/gun posing, Mrs. Rossdale is channeling her inner Ms. Ciccone like bananas!

Fashion Weeks, vacations and the arrival of candy corn has me feelin' BEAT.........

Little Boots Keeps Me Wanting More

2009's 'Hands' Lp from Little Boots hooked me like a parasite you get walking around barefoot where you got no business walkin' barefoot and I've been longing for the followup hit of sonic smack.

Well, my wait is inching close to complete.

First came "Every Night I say a Prayer" with its 90's dance routines 

                        

Then you convinced me to wear my 'Headphones' on the dance floor 

                        

(The multi-collared blouse, the metallic shift dresses.... oh British fashion!)

And cheeky monkey, between the Voguing above and the peepshow below, don't think I don't notice all your homages to Madonna all up in your videos.

Why, why can't you tour the whole of  US and not just California?! Dang!

Although good excuse to go back to Barcelona for your October dates... (Of course you're playing Barcelona!)

That B Don't Disappoint

Madonna's half time performance made Stately Grand Street Manor go wild last nite! Her custom Givenchy couture pieces were just part of the raison du hooplah

I can't with that cape. Killin' it. 

In a relationship with a dancer, I now see slip ups in rhythm and step even more and there were some pronounced moments where Madonna missed a beat or couldn't find it (ooh girl, your clapping NEVER found the music) but I am impressed by her ability to do anything in those wicked heels

And if nothing else, that B got me and my crew to watch a Super Bowl. Ha!

Are You "Luvin' " Madonna's New Video?

Madonna's new single "Give Me All Your Luvin' " leaked weeks ago online but now the full on, glossy video is out and wouldn't you know, it's got a football theme. Hmm... wonder if that could be in time to promote anything???


                              


Meanwhile Madge looks great in her raincoat Doris Day moments

and super sexy in her cropped jacket, leopard bra and granny panties,

but the Marilyn Monroe style she rocked so many Video Music Awards ago looks, well... a little granny

Sorry, I LOVE you M!!! But that is not the freshest look and definitely might be one to put back in the closet and not revisit

All in all a great video with incredible style and that Madonna brand tongue-in-cheek ironic humor

Ten Things I Loved in January

2012 is already 1/12th of the way done. Let's see what things didn't piss me off this month:

1. Lemon Ginger tea from Twining's 

A right kick in the a** on a winter's day.

2. This jacket from the Fall 2012 Kenzo runway

Yeah, this could very well be a shirt, but you know my dumbness would wear it as a jacket. In 40 degree cold. 

3. Finished this book! 

Before my three month deadline! 

4. Jack's Wife Freda restaurant

Turns out, it is new. And that vegetable couscous with tangy chutney is delicious (despite its hard to swallow $16 price tag)
