Gwen Stefani Becomes More and More Like Madonna...
Gwen Stefani hit the MTV European Music Awards with her ska 90's band No Doubt last night in Frankfurt, Germany
Dressed in her lady-of-a-certain-age draped silks on the red carpet, the transformation into Madonna really is visible
but it was on stage that it was clear that it's more than the material, girl, that makes the Madge
From the tall boots, to the menswear influence and fishnets, and, of course, the controversial finger/gun posing, Mrs. Rossdale is channeling her inner Ms. Ciccone like bananas!

Once More with Feeling: Sartorial Soulmates: Michael Caine
With all thoughts going to London this week, I'm re-showing my love for Michael Caine and his sauve brand of British cool.
Hit it!
Hit it!
Child, if all you know of Michael Caine is Alfred in "The Dark Knight", you are missing one stylish O.G.
and nobody got mo' play in his day!
(Oh whomever could be on the other end of Britt Ekland's loveline in "Get Carter" ?)
(Oh Alfie, tell me what it's all about!)
(yes, Nancy Sinatra! Get it!)
well, that's model-actress Shakira Baksh, whom he's been with for 37 years.
Umm.... sexy committed dad much?
Congrats, Michael Caine, you're my current style icon. Don't F' it up!

Emmy Rossum's Shameless Side Job
Turns out Emmy Rossum is GILTy of some shameless side gigs, blatantly shilling dead stock Marni cashmere sweaters for Gilt on the not so sly

How McQueen Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the 'Bomb'
McQueen's ruffle-tastic bouquet of Mongolian lamb and ostrich feathers set off my hay fever flashbacks, but I also noticed this flare up of a dress
Blast, if that doesn't resemble my favorite Dutch designers, Viktor & Rolf's floral detonation, Flowerbomb
Down to the seal and metal topper.
True, it's not the first time a designer found inspiration in a flacon, but this strikes me as a pretty explosive cross-pollination, non?

Friday the 13th Style Icons: Ned from Part 1
It's Friday the 13th and time for the next installment of "Lucky at the Mall, Unlucky at Camp" featuring chic campers that upstaged Jason Vorhees with some killer style.
Today's fashionvictim subject is Ned Rubenstein, aka Neddy, aka our favorite gay hipster from the original "Friday the 13th"
But for repeating a look, he's forced to go off to gay pastures otherwise known as the off-screen death scene
Today's fashion
Honey, if you've been anywhere near Metropolitan in the Summer, you're well versed on this jean cutoffs and vintage tee look.
But pretty soon Ned can't resist his nelly nature and it's fast track time to de-clothe and dance!
Later, Neddy tries to get all butch in the snake confrontation (well as butch as white jean shorty shorts allow)
Oh poor Ned, you didn't even make it to the all nite rave, where you'd meet some weird guy that keeps buying you drinks and then in a haze decide to go home with for a nite of risky choices and hot breath. You were robbed!

Inspiring Shot: Park & Bond
With my new job comes new sartorial challenges: who am I, fashion wise, in this latest incarnation? Of course like any savvy gay I have my usual spirit animals of visual reference: The Zombies. Rudi Gernreich. Steve McQueen.
Or perhaps I return to an old fave: Michael Caine.
Because he's the only guy I see in this Park & Bond landing page shot of social media director of the Soho and Tribeca Grand hotels, Steven Rojas

Perhaps I should give my fresh co-workers a heads-up. They are most likely a shade unprepared for my capricious taste in fashion and the many guises I'll don before the year is up.
Nah, let's keep 'em guessing.
If you're rich:
Gant by Michael Bastian striped cotton turtleneck $148
Simon Spurr large plaid peak-lapel flannel blazer, $1,895
Alexander Olch "The Boris" donegal wool handkerchief, $55
Versace slim cotton pant, $295
Florsheim by Duckie Brown saddle shoe, $325

From Paris with Love: Day 1
This Gareth Pugh contraption has absolutely no place in my closet, but in my dreams I wear it casually to work without a bat of my eye.
Dries van Noten's hearty mix and match is far more my reality. Lately I've been straying from my usual pastiche of patterns and colors, but when done right, it's still poppin', it's poppin'.
I like this look from Rochas, but even I'd admit that's a pretty spot on costume of 60's housewife. You'd need some hardcore chutzpah to pull that off now. Go for it! But call me over with my camera first.

Jill Stuart's Butter Dream of a Spring
A patterned light weight short sleeve sweater paired with a similar toned jacket is a look going into my mental daily

Zara's E-Commerce is Here!
With yet another tropical storm comes yet another series of rainy days and the will it or won't it uncertainty of daily dressing. If you're like most New Yorkers, you've definitely had that not properly dressed feeling and popped into an H+M or Zara for a quick reboot. The funny thing is both little saviours have never been available to peruse and purchase online.
Until today. While H+M is trying something out with ELLE this week, Zara's going full throttle with their first ever American e-commerce launching:
To celebrate, here are some of my picks from the men's collection available just a
click away
1. Wool blend Coat w/ Asymetrical Closure, $249
I love Ann Demeulemeester, darlin', but her prices? Oy! Since my favorite trench coat is from Zara and I wear it to death, I think I'd do the same with this Annie D. inspired coat at a tenth of the cost.
2. Red/White Jacquard Sweater, $59.90
The scalloped ribbing on this sweater (and the cords pairing) definitely give off that hot dad from the 70;s vibe. All that's missing is some Clark Kents and a precocious child. Got the glasses, now whose kid can I borrow?
3. Slub Knit Striped Tee, $19.90
For Fall I've been toying with streamlining my look. Perhaps I'll return to one of my favorite style icons: The Gorton's Fisherman or French youths of the 60's. Either way, Blue Marlin or Breton, this shirt gives me the look in an unexpected color. Yes!
4. Striped Plimsoll, $59.90
Always on the lookout for comfortable flats with style. This fits brilliantly into my salty sailor vibe and looks simultaneously dressy and comfy. Umm... sold!
Oh and for good measure, here's some Stella Tennant working the Fall 2011 Zara campaign! You ask why? I ask why not! (For fun try to guess which designer influenced each look)
Happy shopping!
