I Haven't Quit My Day Job

Hey kids, I know I've been in and out here lately. It's been CRAZY BUSY. Writing for a bunch of sites, lining up a September magazine cover interview and planning NYC Fashion Week... oy! But such a good busy.

Anywho, I'm still working full time too at Bluefly, where I've been writing headlines and captions for our sister site, Belle & Clive. Check out some of my favorites

Graphic, yes, but also a nice reminder that we have all the designer and contemporary styles that makes stylists and editors go cuckoo.

Alliteration is soooo my thing and we get to showcase those highly coveted Prada and Miu Miu 90's style platforms front and center. Come and get 'em!

A knowing play on The Wizard of Oz for fashionistas and friends of Dorothy alike.

Yup, a Joey Lawrence / Blossom reference. I love my job!

A Window Into New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week day 1 and an early trend has already emerged: windowpane pattern prevalence

Tanya Taylor contrasts oversize windowpanes at chest with slim arms

I'd never advocate matchy matchy, but this Creatures of Comfort two piece could be broken up into some spot on looks. (Love the shout back with the wood panes in the background)

Gryphon deconstructed punk classics with shredded windowpane pants (notice cropped hem that was everywhere in the menswear collections too)

The Ethical Fur Solution

With the New York Fall 2012 runways ablaze with fur, obviously this ugly trend is not going anywhere. So how does one ethically bridge the gap between heart and sleeve?

Answer: vintage. A fur that already exists causes no further damage and without people adopting old furs into their wardrobe, add to overstuffed landfills. It's the perfect green solution to an otherwise deadly fad.

And what perfect timing since the 96th and Broadway Housing Works is hosting a recycled and vintage fur event tomorrow

So now not only does a second hand fur benefit the animals you've spared the knife, but all $$ spent goes to people living with AIDS. Charity squared!

At 11am Saturday, Housing Works 96th Street

2569 Broadway between 96th & 97th streets

Printed Pants Still a Thing

(Calla, Fall 2012)

Those Resort 2012 Stella McCartney pants that are huge editorial darlings right now

(Stella McCartney Resort 2012, the touchstone of printed pants)

are having heavy influence on the Fall collections of New York Fashion week

(Derek Lam, Fall 2012)

(Erin Fetherston)                                                  Fall 2012                                                         (Timo Weiland)

My personal favorite was Thakoon's leaf print which really brings this trend into Autumn

This Ain't No Bert and Ernie

Mr Taurus and I have been banging our heads together all week long trying to generate a brilliant couples costume this year when we should have just picked up New York Magazine

Dressing as Nicki Minaj and Anna Wintour (odd front row pairing at Carolina Herrera's Spring 2012 show) is a stroke of genius!

Once Again, the Hope Lies in Paris

Spring 2012 has shaped up to be a big old mess!

New York showed peplums and handkerchief hems

(Cuz really, how many times do I have to hear women wish that their hips could look wider? Jeez!)

And Milan focused on food fetishes and coke whores that supposedly channeled "The 20's"

(That's one 80's coke-den of a flapper!)

So here we are in a familiar place:

Paris, it's up to you!
