Friday the 13th Style Icons: Mark from Part 2

                                 gif maker

In honor of it being July, Summer and all that "America!" ish, let's make this entry of 'Lucky at the Mall, Unlucky at Camp' honoree a real guy next door

This was one of the first times you got to see Jason as the killer and right out the gate he was determined to be an equal opportunity slasher of slutty teens. It may not be The Special Olympics, but including a wheelchair bound victim was Jason's way of doing his part for diversity

Shame Mark's wardrobe weren't a little more diverse consisting mostly of this football jersey-esque top for most of his on-air time

(Man I never did get where exactly the killer is supposed to be in this scene)

Oh and this kid gave great hair. Look at the perfect coif and those full eyebrows. You just know he was modelling Hoverounds on the side

Well until Jason put a machete into that cleft chin. Oops!

Happy Friday the 13th!

Oh No! Barnabas Collins Bites the Dust!

A personal hero of mine (and one of the best lookin' men in a double breasted suit, might I add) Jonathan Frid, aka Barnabas Collins has died!

The 87 year old actor passed away on Friday the 13th, natch, yet his family just released the news

On the eve of the Tim Burton big movie adaption, Mr Frid's work as the daytime vampire with a conscious was bound to get new fans and recognition. It's a shame he won't be able to witness the new found fandom but we at It Can't All Be Dior tip our baying dog head canes to you fine sir!

Kelly Hu in Jason Takes Manhattan

(Hu gonna die? YOU gonna die!)

Long before she was a Lady Deathstrike, she struck out in "Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan" in an eerily on-trend for 2012 getup of bright colored pants

Kris Kross suspenders

and leggings with flats (ugh, why must the 90's be back?!)

Jason didn't care too much for this look either

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!

Friday the 13th Style Icons: Ned from Part 1

It's Friday the 13th and time for the next installment of "Lucky at the Mall, Unlucky at Camp" featuring chic campers that upstaged Jason Vorhees with some killer style.

Today's fashion victim subject is Ned Rubenstein, aka Neddy, aka our favorite gay hipster from the original "Friday the 13th"

Honey, if you've been anywhere near Metropolitan in the Summer, you're well versed on this jean cutoffs and vintage tee look.

But pretty soon Ned can't resist his nelly nature and it's fast track time to de-clothe and dance!

Later, Neddy tries to get all butch in the snake confrontation (well as butch as white jean shorty shorts allow)

But for repeating a look, he's forced to go off to gay pastures otherwise known as the off-screen death scene

Oh poor Ned, you didn't even make it to the all nite rave, where you'd meet some weird guy that keeps buying you drinks and then in a haze decide to go home with for a nite of risky choices and hot breath. You were robbed!

Yesterday was a Hellish Day and Ended with a Hell Night

Yesterday I couldn't get in the mood. I had a list prepared but my body said "couch only today, buddy!" Probably for the better since I was in a rotten funk (lack of sleep makes me cranky!)

Anywho, when Mr G came home he wasn't feelin' it either so we went to our fool proof feel better: "White girl get cut" aka horror/slasher/dasher.

Last nite's Entry? "Hell Night"

starring Linda Blair, Vincent Van Patten and this guy

Whom my cuckoo ass identified instantly as that guy who gets killed in the shower of "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter"

(Doug played by Peter Barton, gets squeaky clean before meeting Jason in "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter", aka part Four cuz that ish never gonna end!)

Which either makes me really good at spotting pretty boys with dark hair or one of the few people who bought the Friday the 13th box set as an investment piece, either way: weird.

So back to "Hell", the movie is surprisingly good with some loose plot about four frat/sorority pledges spending a nite in the local haunted house. Inside there's all the standbys of fully lit candelabras that nobody ever questions, spiderwebs in the stair railings, see-through ghosts in the lobby and mysterious wailing coming from the attic. But the most frightening thing of all is...

THIS!

Seriously who thought this face a star? Yikes! And all these lines from cute frat boys about "who is that?" and "isn't she fine?" and all. Icky. Sorry Linda Blair, I'm sure you're a lovely person but when your signature role is convincingly playing a vomit spewing girl possessed by the devil, you never were gonna be the teen dream.

Oh right, the plot. Well there's an inbred creature (or two) just trying to live they life. But up come these meddling kids trespassing into they inherited stately manor. What would you do? Exactly: run the halls offing the pledges and the brothers trying to scare them with a nice mix of kills via scythe, neck twisting and beheading. It's the only logical recourse.

Oh and before meeting his doom the Van Patten progeny for some reason runs around in his boxer shorts the whole film

Which I was ok with

So at the end of the day "Hell Night" was just what I needed. Energy up and happiness boosted. White girl get cut works every time folks!

And did I mention it's totally available on Netflix instant? We five starred that ish!

Friday the 13th Style Icons: Melissa from Part 7

("There goes the neighborhood")

I’m a man of many tastes. One minute I can rave about the return to color for Spring and smart tailoring for Fall, the next I’m on a bender of bad movies featuring beheadings. The politics of finding a new creative director for venerable French fashion houses is regular cocktail fodder. Why newfangled blasphemous remakes of Freddy and Michael Myers carry on is a constant debate in the Mr G and me apartment.

Today, on Friday the 13th of May 2011, I’ma bridge the gap. Introducing a new segment I call

“Lucky at the mall, Unlucky at camp”

Our first victim… ahem, I mean model is Miss Melissa from “Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood” aka the one with that telekinetic B who gets all Carrie White on Jason’s ass

Melissa is the epitome of preppy 80’s style straight from The Limited with a platinum sexy mom bob to boot

("You like it? I just got it last nite at The Limited. Like totally blew my allowance")

Cool color sweater girl tops for openly mocking the recently asylum released

(A fashion perfectionist, Melissa confirms the proper way to wear a straight jacket)

White crisp denim that's pristine even when she’s kneeling in the woods eavesdropping on psycho Tina and we met a minute ago but now we’re in love boyfriend, Nick (aka
Dr Craig Wesley from my stories!)

("I love you complete stranger that may have psychological disorders")

And of course the big scene-stealer, that pearl necklace from daddy

Sadly, she takes an axe to the head right at the denouement, but she works it like the accessory pro she was born to be!

(R'uh-r'oh)

Stay tuned for this continued series. The next installment happens in January!
