Little Boots Keeps Me Wanting More

2009's 'Hands' Lp from Little Boots hooked me like a parasite you get walking around barefoot where you got no business walkin' barefoot and I've been longing for the followup hit of sonic smack.

Well, my wait is inching close to complete.

First came "Every Night I say a Prayer" with its 90's dance routines

Then you convinced me to wear my 'Headphones' on the dance floor

(The multi-collared blouse, the metallic shift dresses.... oh British fashion!)

And cheeky monkey, between the Voguing above and the peepshow below, don't think I don't notice all your homages to Madonna all up in your videos.

Why, why can't you tour the whole of  US and not just California?! Dang!

Although good excuse to go back to Barcelona for your October dates... (Of course you're playing Barcelona!)

Proof in the Pudding: I Went to the Beach

I'm not a sun and surf kinda guy, but here it is the rumored video of my visit to the Barcelonetta beach with Mr G and Mr DM and Ms JL.

Enjoy, but keep it a secret...

Drink that Drink Come On!

Let's take a drinking tour of Barcelona!

Inspired by my beloved Clara, I decided I needed to write up each of the lovely libations I experienced in Iberia.

It's time to get Crunk!

Peach and Cava Sangria

Really Cava deserves its own writeup when talking drinks of Spain, but since I got a bad history with sparkly booze, I only partook when it was mixed with peaches, nectar and sugar! Some people found this too sweet. I call those people p*****s and say they don't deserve their cavities!

Fresh Squeezed Kiwi Juice

Also ridiculously sweet, this little green goblin creates some neon poops. Yes, yes, TMI, but it's like you're shytin' emeralds!

Damm Lemon

Damnit indeed, as it is a sub-par mimic of Clara, but available in a can at every deli, grocery or airport cafe for 830 am breakfast before your flight back to America. If so inclined....

BONKA Coffee

The jury's out if the name of this Spanish coffee comes from the whack on the head it gives you to wake up or the manic state you'll be in after too many and all of sudden you're dancing on speakers with Catalan girls who speak no English and people ask you where to get that sweet uncut Cocaina you must be on.

Absinthe

I wasn't witness to this one, but I hear some people (no names) can't handle they Green Fairy. Based on how hard that kiwi juice hit me, I won't judge.

So whistle all wet, I'ma sit down, do some more writing and have some coffee. Don't worry, I left the Bonka in Spain.

It Certainly is a Bit Exact

While in Barcelona, I noticed on La Rambla this money changing place was using a familiar font

Is this a coincidence or because La Rambla is the Times Square of Barcelona? Hmmmm....

Clamor for Clara!

Child, we drank sooooo many of these, despite getting dirty looks. Being as it is a mix of beer and carbonated lemonade, is it any wonder people judged us girly men?

But fuckin-a, this ish be delish! Mr G and I got a new Summer drink on tap!

Seeing PULP in Barcelona is Hardcore

So much to say about my trip to Barcelona, but I might let Jarvis take the lead...

Hasta Luego!

I won't be posting for the next week as I enjoy a long overdue vacation in Barcelona. See you June 2nd!

For now, I'm off to my castle in Spain.... to eat nothing but cake!

End of the Road: Oprah's Last Stand

Oh my Oprah! That crazy old guy got the wrong date: the end of the world wasn't Saturday but TODAY. For today, Oprah signs off into the sunset.

I will be on an airplane bound for Iberia, but have no fear I'll feel it. The moment when the world as we know it tremors into a new world order and 4pm sick days will feel hopeless and barren.

We'll miss you Ops.

I think the video below sums it up with the first lyric: "Grow and go, O"

Book Club: Oleg Cassini's Memoirs

Masterfully melding my two loves, history and fashion, Oleg Cassini's autobiography, "In My Own Fashion" also showcases a skillful dose of trash talk, financial ups and downs, whirlwind romances (he's straight and he married Gene Tierney and romanced many, many others), jet setting, adversaries (right now he's met his match in Edith Head) and name dropping.

And wild audacious claims like this one

"Producer Arthur Hornblow... asked me to work on 'I Wanted Wings', an aeronautical big-budget mishap, noteworthy only for the debut of a young starlet named Veronica Lake, whose blonde peekaboo hairstyle created a sensation across the country. With all due modesty, I must admit: I created that look..."

And I'm only on page 103. The book is full of these grandiose claims and I haven't even made it to his 60's heyday of being the on call couturier for Jackie Kennedy

(It's good to be king... of the pill box hat)

In 36 hours I'll be on a plane bound for Spain for a week long celebration. Thank you, Mr. Cassini, for the ultimate in vacation reads.

Crash Bland-ing

Last nite while pre-booking my Barcelona trip vegetarian meals with Delta, I noticed a myriad of dining choices

But one stood out for its DON'T factor

"Bland Meal"

Honey, if I want a bland meal, I'm sure as hell not gonna pay for it. I'll stay home and eat my old phone books, thank you.
