Ten Things I Loved in January

2012 is already 1/12th of the way done. Let's see what things didn't piss me off this month:

1. Lemon Ginger tea from Twining's 

A right kick in the a** on a winter's day.

2. This jacket from the Fall 2012 Kenzo runway

Yeah, this could very well be a shirt, but you know my dumbness would wear it as a jacket. In 40 degree cold. 

3. Finished this book! 

Before my three month deadline! 

4. Jack's Wife Freda restaurant

Turns out, it is new. And that vegetable couscous with tangy chutney is delicious (despite its hard to swallow $16 price tag)

5. I became an uncle!

Three times over. 

6. Charlize Theron on Top Chef

That Snow White flick of hers don't even come out 'til June and she's already out there peddling it with "make me a feast fit for an evil queen" throw downs. But I'm dying to go see it, so I'll shut up. Theron knows what she's doin', wicked shillster!

This week's make a dress inspired by ice cream with a press agent, was a cute idea, Project Runway All Stars, but that six hour constraint seemed like a real mean tack-on

However, there was some nice output this week from both of my designer dudes.





AUSTIN

Austin's knotted and beaded felt like a warm buttery concoction of vanilla and spice and showed some nice craftsmanship.








MONDO

Cool crisp and refreshing, this is the what the challenge was supposed to be all about: visualization of a flavor. Delicious and the clear winner.

Most of the designers were floored by the opportunity to dress such a fashionable figure in pop culture. How they composed themselves at all is beyond my fathoming....

Blech, guys. What happened here? Both dresses are far too referential. Austin's is straight up Proenza Schouler for Target 

While Mondo's look is cribbed from Bryce Howard Dallas in "The Help" 

Damn! Down to that unfortunate helmet hair! 

Either way, both were literal and literally AWFUL! 

If I have to chose, Austin, you sneak by with this week based entirely on styling. Your model's hair and youthful energy are far more Piggy than that Betty Ford look of Mondo's

Alas and alack, I'll be working this year's Fashion's Nite Out, but if I were free tonite to hobnob, I'd only hobnob with the baddest b***h, Miss Piggy

At the ACE Hotel's Opening Ceremony annual carnival (this year Argentine themed) Lady Piggy will be holding court in honor of an OC/Muppets colab. I'd love to see those clothes. Oh wait...

(How could the star of the show be omitted from the invite. Oh there'll be Hell to pay!)

French Vogue's Getting Piggy with the Talent

Watch out Emmanuelle Alt, Miss Piggy is gunning for your gig. 

According to Vogue UK, Miss Piggy will play an editor for French Vogue in the latest Muppet movie slated for February 2012. 


You just know every designer with a sense of humor is calling for a cameo! Couldn't you just see Isaac Mizrahi and Piggy at a power lunch while she's decked out in mini Oscar de la Renta and a wee Chanel classic quilted? 

(well excuse me, girlfriend. Of course you've already got a classic. How silly of me.)

(and obviously ELLE, but Miss Piggy and Catherine Deneuve together? Purrrrr)
