Hem and Haul: Arden Reed Custom Suit Piece I Wrote for Edge on the Net

Hey guys, check out my latest fashion feature for Edge on the Net. I wrote this profile of mobile custom suit makers, Arden Reed, which features a 3-d body scan and quick 15 minute single consultation all in the back of a truck. I interviewed the co-founder to see what his inspiration was and what's next for this exciting New York menswear brand

Prada Says Keep Your 3-D Glasses

You know those 3-D glasses ubiquitous at the glut of remakes and half bakes filling the theaters of late?

Well, Prada says don't toss 'em, wear 'em

Or at least that's what I see in these new men's Fall 2013 ads
featuring movie men not models natch

Bonus HIPSTER smarties featured on this cute boy
(I have no idea who is or what he's been in)

My Hudson Made Workwear Piece is LIVE

Part of my crazy busy of late is a new company I've started writing for, Hudson Made. Hudson Valley, New York based purveyors of rustic and artisinal items for men, home and life.

This company sources great pieces locally and offers up a whole lifestyle built on the story of each piece. I had the good fortune to write my first article for them (which they loved!) about the history of workwear and its rightful place in modern fashion.

Definitely give it a look-see

I Got a Great Review!

"Hi Mac,

Great Workwear post. I'm thrilled and it surpasses my expectations and references my fashion icons and heroes. Bravo. Well done."

Bill Hovard - Founder
HUDSON MADE

---This is for my premiere post for Hudson Made NY, which I'll post when the minitue it goes live,
I swear.

I've been a very BUSY guy!

Rihanna Should "Stay" in Tom Ford According to the Designer

“OK, that’s Rihanna, and she’s going to her lawyer’s office in that all-black outfit and she’s hungover and that’s why she’s wearing those glasses. Yet she’s still a rock star,” Tom Ford explained to WWD

And while I cannot authenticate Rihanna was indeed hungover here, I love that the above quote in April 2013 was spot on. Rihanna would wear a sparkly, sequined zebra print gown with monkey fur standing collar on the every day

And she's worn other wack-a-doo getups from the mixed reviewed recent Ford collections

More black and white

More cuckoo footwear (Forrest Gump wore them first)

But me thinks Rihanna might be "The Only Girl in the World" who can pull these looks off

I Haven't Quit My Day Job

Hey kids, I know I've been in and out here lately. It's been CRAZY BUSY. Writing for a bunch of sites, lining up a September magazine cover interview and planning NYC Fashion Week... oy! But such a good busy.

Anywho, I'm still working full time too at Bluefly, where I've been writing headlines and captions for our sister site, Belle & Clive. Check out some of my favorites

Graphic, yes, but also a nice reminder that we have all the designer and contemporary styles that makes stylists and editors go cuckoo.

Alliteration is soooo my thing and we get to showcase those highly coveted Prada and Miu Miu 90's style platforms front and center. Come and get 'em!

A knowing play on The Wizard of Oz for fashionistas and friends of Dorothy alike.

Yup, a Joey Lawrence / Blossom reference. I love my job!

Good Advice: Lindsay Lohan's "The Canyons" Reminds Us of a Good Lesson

It's almost the end of the work day

Don't Look Back!!!

Three Reasons I'm Crushing on the Handsome Ass Dollar Shave Club Guy

Ok, I'll admit "Mike" is a bit white-bread d-bag for my usual tastes, but there's something about how cocky and sardonic he is in his youtube sensation viral marketing.

PLUS he's got these three other things going for him:

1. He's sporty - "I'm good at tennis," he says with a missed volley. But that's fine because...

2. He's history nerd lite - "Your handsome ass grandfather only had one blade. And polio."
Ooh, archaic disease references will forever earn a place in my heart. Just ask Oregon Trail.

3. He's frugal - D'uh

Surely, I'm not alone in my shave and save lust???

It Feels Like FALL!

New York temps are at a 71 degree high for the day and I woke up and read ELLE's August issue / Fall 2013 preview

And I have to remind myself, this is a fluke and not time for jackets and cute sweater. But soon, my pet, so very soon....

Reblog: "Poor Little Rich Girl" Barbara Hutton

Yesterday I was having a lively Instagram chat with fashion designer, Peter Jensen (- shrug-, you know) about how great Barbara Hutton's bio, "Poor Little Rich Girl" is.

I included this trash and dish back in 2011 as part of the ever growing "It Can't All Be Dior" book club, but like Jensen, I feel it is due for a re-read, honey

But still so, so good. This is a summer beach read for every year!
