Prada Says Keep Your 3-D Glasses

You know those 3-D glasses ubiquitous at the glut of remakes and half bakes filling the theaters of late?

Well, Prada says don't toss 'em, wear 'em

Or at least that's what I see in these new men's Fall 2013 ads
featuring movie men not models natch

Bonus HIPSTER smarties featured on this cute boy
(I have no idea who is or what he's been in)

Sometimes It Can Be: Dior's "Secret Garden" and Depeche Mode

Yes, Raf. YES! This latest installment of the 'Secret Garden' promotional art videos for Dior features divine art influences, rich French landscapes and sleek fashions all set to the new wave perfection of Depeche Mode's "Behind the Wheel"  (off the anthemic brilliance that was the "Music for the Masses" album)

There's a certain art school coolness attached to this icy new wave strumming over gallery-ready ready to wear against watercolor scenery (this is not the first fab fashion house that's banked on the slick synths of Depeche Mode to sell perfume)

PS: Genius DIY project inspiration of CD pearlized opera glasses. Ooh, come on rainy day!

VOGUE-sicles!

The September issues are out in full effect but until I get my hands on the Lady Gaga American Vogue, I casually poured through the August issue with Marion Cotillard.

Buried deep what should I unearth but recipes! In VOGUE! How dare they!

Granted they were for popsicles, which seems like one of those Get Out of Jail Free items for models to consume, so I figured, when in Vogue?

Of course I chose the Caipirinha which included a new fangled (for my whiteness) Brazilian rum, Cachaça, which despite Wikipedia informing me is pronounced "Ca-SHAH-sa", Ms GL and I had a hoot shouting "Ca-Shock-Ka!" during the whole boozy process

After muddling some lime, straining some sugar and making a mess, the results were Ca-shocking!

Child, I'd never have had the VOGUE idea to make me own ice pops.

Forget you Edy's!

And here's to sneak attack public drinking! Heyyyyy!

Menswear Spring 2013 DIY: Pajama Dressing

Pajama dressing has been in vogue for the ladies for a while now, but a look for Nicole Farhi by menswear head Massimo Nicosia, showed a sharp dressed handsome lad working the look

In this sweltering heat a loose, breathable top with just a hint of structure sounds ideally fresh and polished at the same time. Watch out nearby 34th Street Kmart, here I come to pinch this look for a lot less.

Something Pickled this Way Comes

Tonite I'm having some friends over for dinner and I got a jump start last nite by making my first ever pickled something or another

The pickled onions are gonna give a nice contrast to the rest of the salad tones tonite.

To be continued....

Etsy Mason Jar Wall Vases... a New DIY Project?

I should stop being such a penny pincher, right, and just cough up the measly $19 for these mason jar bud vases / sconce thingies

But Mr Taurus has a knack at turning old stuff into new and is super handy, so perhaps this is an upcoming DIY project for our weekend

(Wood and reclaimed mason jar sconce, $19 at A Country Way, http://www.etsy.com/listing/90555510/spring-flowers-wood-wall-shelf-worn?ref=v1_other_1)

Spring 2012 DIY: Givenchy Necklace

Kids, this shark tooth necklace from Givenchy is gonna get mad ink come March magazine time

But what's stoppin' you and me from rockin' it now and later for mere pennies? Umm, let's do it!

       +

Step one: find your local Discovery Store or in New York, the super fab DIY "jewelry store" Evolution

Sure, they sell some pre-made jobs like the one above for $19

But don't be a punk! Grab some string and make it happen with these loosey guys instead

Umm... sexy, on trend with the "color blocking" and in step with Vegetarian Awareness Month, totally cruelty free replica. And $39. Something tells me the Givenchy one might be a tad bit more.

The Evolution Store's kick ass website full of DIY ideas: http://theevolutionstore.com/

You're welcome.
