Housing Works Takes Fashion for Action

After last night's historical vote, it's time to think FORWARD. Housing Works annual fashion charity extravaganza begins tonight and it's a great opportunity to give to the community while adding a little something something to your closet

(Ohh like a smoking hot 'Carine' shoulder bag from Tom Ford?)

Hosted by co-chairs designer Thom Browne (for the third year in a row), actress Patricia Clarkson, model Dree Hemingway and TV personality Cat Greenleaf, the Fashion for Action 2012 opening party tonite from 6-9pm at the Altman Building is worth braving the snow since it's always a star studded fashion romp (all remaining pieces will be available to the public Thursday-Sunday at the 17th street Housing Works store)

Fabulous finds from Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Dior, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch and many more designer pieces will be up for major discounts off retail with 80% of the selling price going to people living with AIDS and a special 20% goes towards Hurricane Sandy relief

It's Fashion Week here in New York and all the ladies and gents are out in the finery walkin' the streets like a catwalk in heat. 

Why not treat yourself to a little Louboutin?

Victoria Beckham's Flat Out Uncomfortable

What a girl wants, what she really, really wants is her right to high heels back, but Victoria Beckham has been ordered by docs to lay off the Louboutins and kick off the Kirkwoods for sensible shoes. Eww. 

With a slipped disc in her back, Posh, who has worn towering heels through four full term pregnancies, is now flat out of shoe options. I'm sure she can make them work, but here's to a speedy recovery and a hasty return to your right to Choos. 

MET Ball? Glad I Went to Kylie

Pouring through the photos of last nite's CFDA Ball at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I am not feeling love at first sight

And there was something generally missing from the evening. Where was the pomp? The drama? The art? We're celebrating a man who made a dress out of medical slides here people!

The crowd was thick with folks in their finest Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors as if they were celebrating Junior prom, not one of the greatest design minds of recent fashion

(Wait - why you there? And why you wearing Tory Burch?)

(Jessica Stam's been practicing her prom queen acceptance speech ever since she picked up her Tommy Hilfiger dress at the mall)

Ok, this  Michael Kors fuchsia number on Brooklyn Decker at least embraced the color trend so strong for Spring but people this is the MET Ball! You can where whatever you want and you're encouraged to be adventurous!

But let's end on a high note (cuz it can't be that the above dress is "ok"). 

Friend of Alexander McQueen and never afraid to take risks Daphne Guinness won the evening as best dressed in McQueen

And really that more than makes up for all the Maxxinistas in the room!

Here I thought I was the Crankiest Old Queen Today

As I hobble off to work, but Christian Louboutin sure went on a bender of bitchiness when writer Lauren Collins interviewed him for The New Yorker. The French shoe designer with the ubiquitous red soles' "spirited" quotes on comfy, soft and long shoes make him seem like the cattiest Goldilocks I've heard in awhile

“One thing I detest, I have to say, is when a shoe is too soft, and it’s molding to the foot,” Louboutin said. “This is quite disgusting. And I really, really hate incredibly long shoes, where the last is very pointy, almost like Aladdin.”

And the Peewee's Playhouse word of the day to set Mr Louboutin off? Comfortable

“I hate the whole concept of the clog!” Louboutin said. “It’s fake, it’s ugly, and it’s not even comfortable!” He continued, “And I hate the whole concept of comfort! It’s like when people say, ‘Well, we’re not really in love, but we’re in a comfortable relationship.’

Nasty put some clothes on! Look I'm not a fan of this comfort over style concept either, but daddy you sound like you got some anger issues. Careful, my friend don't go gettin' all Galliano on us!
