Behind these doors on Lafaytte Street is a well known 'speak easy' for the rich and think they're famous. There's always some graffiti coating the entrance for the sweet and elite, but this one is particularly rich with irony.

One of the things I love about New York is how people will transform everyday objects into artful interpretations of itself. 

Was this meter cop portrait really necessary on this Chinatown Muni Meter? No, but there in lies the magic.

Umm... worse portrait of Kate Middleton ever! William didn't fare so well either, but jesus. And they could totally sue anyway for using their likeness to sell some beat down Lower East side champagne that's ambrosia to cherubs

I looked it up and the 2000 vintage actually runs $75/bottle. You'd think they could afford at least Banksy or somethin'!

One of my favorite things about living and working in Soho is taking in all the street art on my daily commute. In this case actual street art using tar on sidewalk in the visage of a true dandy on the corner of Mercer and Spring Streets.

That's some enviable wind swept hair but this must be before Dorian's murder and strumpets spree.

It's Tough Being a Material Girl

Actually turns out when I did some digging that this isn't a social commentary on the Recession's impact on Ms. Ciccone's spending, but rather "Cost" is a well known New York City graffiti artist who back in the 80's + 90's covered the city with his specialty, wheatpaste stickers and was once called 

"the worst graffiti vandal in the history of New York"

That all might be true, but now I wanna know more about this tryst with Madge! Scandal!
