My Latest Tuck

While folks are flippin' their lids for Prabal Gurung for Target, I got a little sassy tie neck Kirna Zabete for Target number on my online clothes swap page at Bib + Tuck

Don't let Oscar nominees have all the fun!

Get It Get It: Kirna Zabete Tweed Shift on Bib + Tuck

It's cray cray cold out and while we'd all like to wrap up in blankets and boyfriends and forget the day, alas someone gotta pay the electric bill. So it's off to work. Trudge, trudge, trudge.

But wouldn't it be great to have a new cute as a button tweed and faux leather shift under that wool wonder of coat?

Plus how easy to play with when it's Spring and Old Man Winter stops torturing our bones?

Run over to my Bib + Tuck page and nab this NEW with Tags lil' vers beauty from the sold out Kirna Zabete for Target collection.

Why Can't I Quit You Target Designer Colabs?

It is no secret that I along with most folks am suffering from designer colab fatigue and just when I thought I'd shook it off, Mr. Prabal Gurung has to go and make this chic printed sweatshirt (G'ah! My weakness revealed!!) just a callin' my name

(Child)

While I would argue this looks more 'Givenchy on a budget', until Mr. Tisci does indeed team up with Uniqlo (tell me that wouldn't be hot?!) this sassy topper is where all my pennies will go come February 10th.

Good thing I got a Target gift card for X-mas.

This Zara Blazer Really Zips Around Town!

At Housing Work's "Design on a Dime" event last Thursday I admired a fashionable lady's yellow bouclé blazer with zip off bottom panel. She delighted in informing me it was Zara

Well, now my fellow Maryland-er, model Hilary Rhoda popped up at The Shops at Target party last nite sportin' the same aurulent outerwear

Thanks for the Ad: Black Cats Come Alive for Jason Wu for Target

There's something so whimsically French storybook about the Jason Wu for Target commercial starring a black cat with a penchant for well designed mischief and Francoise Hardy

Is it April in Paris yet?

Project Runway All Stars Austin vs Mondo: Miss Piggy is the Client!

Work it out!

Most of the designers were floored by the opportunity to dress such a fashionable figure in pop culture. How they composed themselves at all is beyond my fathoming....

                         (Austin)                                                                                        (Mondo)

Oh, that's right, they didn't!

Blech, guys. What happened here? Both dresses are far too referential. Austin's is straight up Proenza Schouler for Target

While Mondo's look is cribbed from Bryce Howard Dallas in "The Help"

Damn! Down to that unfortunate helmet hair!

Either way, both were literal and literally AWFUL!

If I have to chose, Austin, you sneak by with this week based entirely on styling. Your model's hair and youthful energy are far more Piggy than that Betty Ford look of Mondo's

(Stealing Angela Lindvall's thunder!)

So the score is:

Austin  2

Mondo 1

Don't be too excited, Senor, that was a default point. You better step it up!

Sounds Dirty But is Not: Halloween Edition

Oh Target Halloween ad, I will spare you the all too obvious weiner and buns jokes.

The Non-Label Whore Pieces from the Target / Missoni Colab

When Missoni's Target line was announced, I jumped. But now that I'm seeing it in the flesh, I'm reminded that Missoni is one of those labels that you can see a mile away. The signature wavy knits are easily spotable. So a cheaper version is gonna be even easier to spy. Either way you land on this debate, be prepared to see the clothes everywhere!

But beyond the "Dedicated Follower of FASHION!" clothing, there are some fun pieces one can introduce into their life.

1. Socks

I love a groovy sock and showing a slip of Missoni is the casual way to wear your favorite designer.

2. This Tam

Again, subtle. I truly believe these are the only two pieces in the whole line that can be worn without fashion victim-hood.

3. Blanket

For your fashion obsessed niece going to F.I.T. The Missoni print is cute and all, but me thinks this probably not cashmere.

4. Wine gift box

Most unnecessary thing ever. Perfect for those bougie friends you have that are having a housewarming in Gramercy or Hells Kitchen.

5. Stationary

THIS is the way to do it. See the key to diffusion lines, colabs and downstream steps like this is to make as minute a difference between the new project and the main line.

Back On, Target!

A few months ago, Target announced its Calypso colab (in stores now. zzzzzz....) and some of us, well let's just say, weren't "thrilled" with the direction of Go International.

Well kids, Target, she a-listened. Missoni? Umm, bring it! That fabled knitwear brand is a hot commodity and if this has menswear involved too, I'ma tear it up. Hell, even if it don't, I'll squeeze into something!

Just Down from the Target... Practice

I don't get to Park Slope as much as I'd like. It's Mr Taurus and my romantic spot and trying to meet up with him the other day over the phone he directed me to his exact location. However, I retorted "away from or closer to the Target"?

Yeah, I work Brooklyn like I do the suburbs: "where is it in comparison to the Target?"

Once we met up he wanted to show me something: a series of old target practices that someone had drawn the day's appropriate costume

And you know we broke out into an impromptu photo shoot, honey! When life hands you a gallery of shooting range practice posters, you better not miss a shot!

(I love this shot of Mr Taurus doin' his best Michael Meyers)
