Everbody Loves Dark Shadows, Darlin'!

A famous actress from True Blood came into my work this weekend. I didn't realize who she was at first, just that she was asking my co-worker for any pieces from Dark Shadow, the Rick Owens line

I thought she said "Dark Shadows" the 60's soap and the object of my current devotion. You know I had to jump in!



Me: "Did you say Dark Shadows? I was just watching that on my lunch break. Barnabas is totally gunning for Vicky Winters now that his plan to seduce Maggie Evans into thinking she's his deceased former love, Josette failed."

She: Oh my God, I love Dark Shadows. All these new supernatural shows rip it off so much.



Little did I know, until I Googles her after, what a cheeky little wink this was. Clever clover, I knew I knew her from somewhere!

Top Bet: Premiere Edition

Tonite’s the premiere of the eagerly (ok I’m excited) awaited Top Model All Stars and here with no math on my side is my pics for top three and going home this episode

Yes there can only be one winner, but let’s take a stab of who I think is gonna be in that top tier heading towards a runway show and that dreaded Cover Girl commercial

Isis: C’mon Tyra’s not gonna bring her back to crush her dreams twice, right? I mean Tyra paid for her gender reassignment surgery and with Lea T.’s success, a transgender Top Model would be très hip! 

Bre: Bre’s the girl to beat on the runway and she’s still hot with her greased up mahogany skin and fro. I mean she making this Forever 21 ish look good in the promo pic. 

Bottom Two:
I have two lovely girls, but only one pic. Who’s it gonna be?

Shannon: She’s one of the oldest of the bunch and that’s a giant strike against her. Sorry gran. Add in her snooze factor (double if she goes all Jesus again) and she's a goner!

Lisa: She's got a Debbie from True Blood ugly twin vibe going on, doesn't she? And we all know what happened to Debbie. Bye bye ugly.

Wonderland Magazine is the Queen of My Heart

Alexander Skarsgard has been everywhere lately smoldering and promoting the fourth season of True Blood (and this movie I have no idea what is about?) but how cute is he here in the Autumn/Winter issue of Brit mag, Wonderland?  

He's really re-invigorating this Hipster/Duckie look and looks fun and nerdy. Kudos to Wonderland for taking him on this sweet detour from the usual obvious sexual Thor path

But then I'm probably one of the few people that liked Eric better in his puppy dog amnesia state. Aww, cutie. 

True Blood Comes in with a Jam

Ok I've read online grumblings about last nite's fourth season premiere, but I loved it. The stage is set for some interesting conflicts (Sookie versus the gremlin fairies, everyone versus some nasty old witch) and twists (Bill must'a won that battle with Sophie Anne cuz now he's king and Jessica is going through the terrible two's with new found freedom resulting in some acting outs).

I'm already hooked and biting at the bit for the next episode. Until then a nice bonus: a N'awlins style Zombies cover by country crooner gal Neko Case and Mr Southern Gothic Nick Cave.


Ooh this season gonna be the ish!

Last Nite's Party: Emmy Fashion

Ok, I watch a lot of tv, or so I thought. But I don't know who half these B's are on last nite's Emmy red carpet.

So I just gonna focus on the few I do....

I know Anna Paquin from True Blood and I know Alexander McQueen, but I don't think the two go together. She looks squat and too two tone. My high school colors were black and gold and that was probably the last time I needed to see someone wear just those two colors from head to toe. . 

I know Christina Hendricks because she's hot and all over the place from Mad Men to magazine covers to London Fog. I might be the only person out there who likes this lavender Zac Posen dress on her, but I think the milky skin, flame waves and floaty lilac number are all so rich and delicious. But I am also biased when it comes to redheads. I can't talk ish about them or Mr G will put the hurt on. 

 

Betty White straight doin' it and winning much deserved SNL hosting awards. Go Bets!

Another funny lady and SNL alum got it right. Sure, Tina Fey's Oscar de la Renta looks a bit like hieroglyphics but I think they read as "Go on now, Miss Tina!"

Another print, another True Blood actress. But unfortunately, another flop. Mr G and Miss GL are not fans of Rutina Wesley's Tara on the show and I always have to defend her. In this Douglas Hannant dress she looks ok and the print is fun, but the hair and makeup is indefensible. Honey, I don't need to remind you the face is the money. 

Who this girl? She's on The Office according to IMDB. She look like she on the way to prom. And I kinda not mad at that. 

I really not mad at these two. This is Muriel and Elaine Benes, together! At last. I'ma go fag out in a corner now. (Oh and if it matters, Toni's in Valentino and Julia's in Narciso Rodriguez, of course. She LOVE him.)

Prada is one of those labels that has a huge following and major respect in the industry. Rita Wilson is showcasing a prime example of why I always question Prada's reputation. Yikes!

Damn the Man

Umm, wow, did not see this coming. "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" ended its killer first season with a bang. All the bougie white folks got slaughtered in a slave and gladiator revolt.

Bye Bye Xena Warrior Princess. Bye Bye "Sliding Doors" guy.

The only people left of the upper class are the bougie white minx and her Mark Ronson-esque Roman general husband (thank goodness!)

Can't wait to see what happens next season, although now with the announcement of main actor, Andy Whitfield, diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, who knows when that will be.

At least "True Blood" is coming soon.
