Revolving Diors

Ok with John Galliano suspended and obviously not coming back, a successor is needed for Christian Dior. Someone who can handle both the Ready to Wear and the Haute Couture.

Here's some of my suggestions

1. Jean Paul Gauliter

A very obvious choice what with his enfant terrible reputation and his love for the dramatic. He could easily carry Dior forward and is available for another house with fashion history to take on since he left Hermes.

2. Olivier Theyskens

I know he's busy with Theory and all, but after a triumphant turn at Nina Ricci and an equally dramatic oust, critical darling, Theyskiens, would be up for the challenge, I'm sure.

3. Stefano Pilati

With rumors swirling once more that the Gucci group is on the verge on letting him  go from Yves Saint Laurent, he'd be open for a job and obviously familiar with the pressures of taking on such a revered French fashion house.

4. Giambattista Valli

This man knows how to dress a woman so she is the epitome of glamour and sophistication. He has a large celebrity following, which LVMH will need to pull Dior's reputation back (there will unfortunately  be a negative view connected until someone is able to wipe the slate clean).

With so many talents around, though, there isn't a shortage of designers to take over and perhaps we can look at this as a breath of fresh air and forward momentum for Dior.

Theyskens' Theory is Everyone Needs a Black Blazer

Olivier Theyskens' Theory line landed today and there's a lot of great pieces but this blazer really made my eye sparkle.

Yes, at $600, it be price, but this isn't just any old black blazer. Check out these details: stretch wool, narrow lapel, clean, no pocket, no button closure and curved hem (and the little widow's peak on the back of the neck drives me wild! Love it!)

Although I'm not sure I'd rock it the way they did on the runway. That no blouse look a little frowned on at work.

Well, usually.

What's the THEORY Behind This??

Olivier Theyskens, of the Gothic tiered and floaty chiffon dresses and the torturous footwear, has now been named the Creative Director for THEORY of the office appropriate slacks and skirt suits

Head scratcher----how do the two tango?

(typical Theyskens)

(typical Theory)

But I guess the critics also protested Chocolate and Peanut Butter's nuptials once too. We shall see...

Perfect Day: Tarts, Vintage and Hysterical Women

Miss LU and I spent the bulk of an ideal Saturday brunching and buying new clothes (I've been on sartorial starvation too long. I need my fill).

Brunch took place at the Parisian haunt in my hood, The Village Tart.

A massive sea salt croissant and blueberry oatmeal muffin basket kicked the meal off with a flavor bang. For the main we shared a crimini, shitake and portabella tart and a baked rigatoni and cheese casserole with arugula salad. All delicious and the full we shared after was divinely balanced.

Post we putzed around picking up new printed dress shirts, cuz there's a dramatic shortage of those in my closet.

How genius is this Theory dandelion print shirt from Buffalo Exchange?

I returned to my den to wind down and watch movies with Mr G.

If you haven't seen "Suddenly Last Summer", like I hadn't, queue it up now in the old Netflix now. Katherine Hepburn makes quite an entrance and Elizabeth Taylor gets to have a truth serum induced breakdown.

The scenery chewing between these two dames is staggering and there's an epic garden set to rival Eden.

And then over some black tea and jellybeans, Mr G and I ended the day with one more nutty broad: Jessica Lange in "Frances".

Not sure if I'd recommend  this one outside of seeing Ms Lange in her radiant peak and some great wardrobe.
