Comeback Week: Kelly Rowland

This month has seen a lot of It Can't All Be Dior favorites making major comebacks and we're gonna feature them this week for doin' they dooz.

First up is my girl, Kelly Rowland. Remember that moment during Beyonce's Super Bowl performance when Kelly shot up from the floor looking like sex in a sleek banged wig?










Well girlfriend really capitalized on that moment this year with a sassy string of singles that lead up to the release of her fourth solo album, "Talk A Good Game"

And Ms. Kelly know her audience, honey. 




This record is filled with R&B summer jams and slow baby makers

"Cause if you give me your love

Then I give you mines back

If you get to acting up

I cut you off like that"

there's shots of euro dancey numbers for the gays

"Everybody's

Somebody's

Freak"

and even a Beyonce and Michelle colab for her pop starved fans (who affectionately call themselves "Rowland Stones")








I can say I'm done in a million ways

                    But let's not beat around the bush

                                                     Let's cut to the chase

                                                                           You changed, I changed but it's too late



"Talk A Good Game" is a nice grab bag of jams slow and fun, and while at 15 tracks it could have benefited from an edit, I appreciate how much effort Rowland put into this album. I'm not sure there's another crossover like 'Motivation' on here, but it will certainly please her fans and to that I say: Keep on Rowland on!

Beyoncé, I loved your halftime show last nite and I love your sisterly love even more.

Song of Summer 2012: My Predictions

Summer has just begun (and based on the little jacket I'm wearing today, is already on vacation) but it's never too early to try to guess what folks will be shimmying to on rooftops and barbecues alike all season long



1. Drake and Rihanna "Take Care"


Slow boiling languid songs are built for Summer laziness, cookouts and convertibles (see: last year's Song of Summer Kelly Rowland "Motivation")







2. Goyte "Somebody That I Used to Know"


I'll be honest, I don't get the appeal of this lesbian coffee shop, hippie jam. Ugh, but it be everywhere.






3. The Wanted "Glad You Came"


Boy bands are back? Well, they never really left the world of British music so no surprise this Brit band is on the scene, but boy if they aren't making a real go of it here in the states.







4. Carly Rae Jespen "Call Me Maybe"


Poppy, addictive little ear worm perfect for gettin' your wiggles out. Just ask Rebecca Minkoff, Hilary Rhoda and Man Repeller who cast their Song of Summer vote with this cheeky little getting ready for the CFDA Awards vid

(Umm.... Hilary Rhoda be real good lip syncer!)

It's a Gift: Kelly Rowland's Presence

In 24 hours I'll be in Maryland celebrating the holidays with my family! I'm no Scrooge, so I'm leaving you with a special holiday gift.


Ms. Kelly Rowland is a judge and mentor on the UK (and far superior) X Factor and recently took to the stage to sing* a medley of hits.


The Brits LOVE her and you know what, she's definitely a favorite around the It Can't All Be Dior office.

I'm Gonna Crown This the Song of the Summer

You know the slow boil of a beat took awhile to grow on me, but as all thoughts turn to Fall, I definitely think Kelly Rowland's "Motivation" was the song of the Summer.

Slinky, sweaty and sexy, "Motivation" will hopefully be the song to open Kelly open to a wide audience because this heated jam should have been a huge hit. Or this. Or this.
