One ELLE of a Gal

"Fell in love with the girl, fell in love once and almost completely"

In a Yohji Yamamoto cage dress with polka dot Stella McCartney blouse and Sergio Rossi leather and suede boots, Emma Stone's ELLE magazine July 2011 subscriber cover is like a vision from "Barbarella" or Roman Coppola's "CQ"

Take note, W, this is how you showcase an ingenue!

Please Paris, No More Midriffs

(Y-3)

Paris fashion week is here and I beg that the regrettable recent return of the midriff in New York, London and Milan is ne'er spotted in Paris.

Only Cher could ever make these looks sparkle but that was the 70's and Bob Mackie

(Anna Sui)

(Roberto Cavalli)

(Marc Jacobs)

(House of Holland)

(VPL)

And the decidedly more 2000's/ Britney Spears vibe definitely DOES NOT work either

(Jeremy Laing)

(Roberto Cavalli again)

(Jonathan Saunders)

(Y-3 again)

(Pucci)

Bad, bad, bad.

Paris, I can only hope you'll deliver some serious Mode in a season that seems much more focused on the Depeche.

Oh Say Can You Yohji?

Yohji Yamamoto showed an inspired Menswear Spring 2010 collection that reveled in American history for its style references.

Hmm....I may have found my next fashion inspiration.

Miles Standish? More like Miles Stylish!

Then a sea of George Washingtons and Thomas Jeffersons:

And a little Ben Franklin in Paris:

Yohji also gave the American Civil War its shout out:

And even acknowledged America's strong showing in the Industrial Revolution and its captains of industry like JP Morgan and Rockefeller:
