Yeah, But is it More First Blush or Ribbon Pink?

A very special Christmas gift was delivered early for all our drag queen friends at It Can't All Be Dior: Women's Wear Daily reports that "Pantone, the color forecasting and matching firm, has inked a deal with Sephora to do a Pantone-branded makeup line"

(Can you just picture the compacts?)

This opens the door to unfathomable (yet precisely named) hues of yellow, purple and red the likes we've never seen. At the very least, hyper-pigmented herald MAC makeup better watch its back!

The first of many in-store and online exclusives begins with March 2012's "limited edition color cosmetics collection... comprised chiefly of tangerine- and orange-shaded cosmetics and beauty accessories, ranging in price from $18 to $80"

Umm... this gonna be good!

MAC Loves Playing Dress Up

Dear Halloween costume planners,

In case you didn't know, MAC makeup lets you pile it on for impact, a trick utilized by pop musicians and conceptual artists alike. Just ask Cindy Sherman (the latter), who is the star of MAC's latest campaign just in time for All Hallows

An ex boyfriend of mine introduced me to Cindy's portraits where she is the sole subject, art director, photographer and makeup and wardrobe stylist taking on various female archetypes in exaggerated expressions and garish guises. You can see why MAC came a'callin'

And MAC with its history of tongue in cheek ads and embrace of artists just outside the mainstream actually makes sense as a corporate connection. Go ahead cash that check, Cindy!

Maybe She's Born with It... Maybe it's Kylie Minogue

Oh Maybelline, these subway ads scream either Kylie

or a little too inspired by MAC's Viva Glam!

Either way double shame that really only a tranny of color (or a diminutive Aussie pop star) would really go this hog wild on the color and yet you splayed them all over blank, white canvases (minus, oddly enough, blue eye shadow girl. Oh, right cuz the white girls NEVER go overboard with the blue eyeshadow!)
