I Think I Finally Found my Nancy

I've been on a secret hunt to live out the karaoke fantasy of my dreams playing Lee Hazlewood to as of yet unknown Nancy. 

Despite my best efforts, as of now the only people fluent in the lady Sinatra I know are overly tall gay redheads. 




Until now, honey. 

New co-worker, Erika J just happened to be Nancy-ing up her Pandora when I peered over and just about had a gay conniption. 




I leaned over and informed her "We have a date with destiny, my dear" 


Summer Wine on stage, duet style 

My upcoming birthday party just got exponentially super better. 




                               

Plus, I can scratch Nancy / Lee duet off my bucket list just before the possible Mayan Apocalypse. 

Hey, better safe than sorry.

Oh except somehow last nite ended at karaoke with MK and new pal, Nico up on stage dancin' while some stranger sang Led Zeppelin....

Yup, seems about right.

Karaoke Playlist: The Gossip - Standing In The Way Of Control

Last nite after a gallery show and dinner at L'Orange Bleue with Miss M.K., we went for a little sing and dance at Baby Grand.

The crowd was intimate and game for anything. In fact, after I shouted and cursed out some Billy Idol "Rebel yell" (a fall back of mine that I adore and that adores my singing range) a cute girl at the bar insisted we do an impromptu duet. I like the sound of that, fast new Facebook friend!

So Miss G.A.C. and I got up to spread a little Gossip love. She nailed all the the verses and I pounded out the beat in my boots and joined in for the wailing chorus. Maybe it was the evening's share of Scotch, maybe it's the phlegm monster of a cold I've been combating all week, but I really let my inner Beth Ditto out and hit it on the "Whoas"!

Miss A.R. and Baltimore crew visiting, we had to hit Botanica for some Sunday nite karaoke.

There I did a word-for-word rendition of this Lil Kim love song. My spot on performance actually brought a group of curious girls in from off the street.

Yeah, I'm that good at karaoke. What can I say?

Last nite Mr G and crew went to new karaoke spot on Orchard Street, Karaoke Boho

While I weren't thrilled with they Bank of America ways of nickel and diming you (seriously a $5 charge to cut the karaoke queue?) I loved the light up tambourine and the theatre kids who sang along to my affectionate ode to rodents

Last nite Roundabout had its work dinner which lead to a post party at Baby Grand. 

While Miss M.K. hyped me on, I honored recently passed Tenna Marie with a "Lovergirl" full of bossa nova and bravado

and Miss L.S. and I serenaded each other with "I Got You Babe"
