Light-ly Starched

Forget those tacky push 'em and they light up circular thingies, this is the best way to find what you're looking for in the back of your closet

Need one immediately.

Donahue Know It!

My job is moving downtown in exactly one week and in addition to saving $89/month on subway fare and being able to stumble out of bed to work, we will be right next door to Phillip Lim.

I really, really wanna pool the sheckles I'll save into these "Donahue" glasses I've been lustin' after all Summer

And even though Mr G will bust my chops for wearing glasses when I don't require them, these are genius and well, I deserve a little reward.....

They also come in a tortoise shell design that I'm not feeling

Two Men Enter, One Man Leaves

Ooh is it bad form to make a Mel Gibson reference like that right now?

Seriously though tell me Tina Turner wouldn't whip her head dramatically 'round the Thunderdome in these

(Oxidized brass and rhinestone earrings, Fallon, $178 at http://www.shopbop.com/)

The 8th Time The Charm???

Tonite's the season eight premiere of "Project Runway".

And I will watch, cuz I always do even though I will inevitably be found after in a corner, arms crossed and griping about the good old days of Austin Scarlett.

Beep, Beep, Lilly Got the Keys to The Jeep

Miss BJ spotted this Lil' Pulitzer Jeep runnin' the streets this week

If You're a Tall, Dark and Handsome Guy, DON'T Reach for the Bleach

"BlackBook" Magazine somehow convinced cutie pie Mark Ronson to bleach his sleek black locks. This is beyond a stupid decision.

Dark haired, Mark is slick and handsome like his image and sound. Ice blonde,  he looks like one of those poor girls Tyra always makes over into elves on "Top Model".

Twee for Two

My friend Miss AG put me on to Mr Jens Lekman.

New tune just for you and me, babe!

Not At All Posh, Not At All Bad

Man these Victoria Beckham jeans got they "something so right/ something so Mac" on!

Throw on a ratty vintage tee and head scarf now or my little biker style thin jacket and boots come Fall... either way, I'd kinda rock them!

The only thing "Posh" about these is that ridonculous price tag. Jeepers!

Proenza Schouler Say That Omnipresent Street Urchin Look is Out

There's a really great interview with designers Jack and Lazaro of Proenza Schouler from the latest "Grazia" circulating the web right now.

Most blogs have focused on their controversial quote about how people can afford a clothing line even the designers themselves confess to being to poor to afford. That's pretty good copy, I agree, but I took to this quote too

"We are also tired of the shoes with the studs and the whole biker-jacket thing," says Lazaro.
"It's so common," Jack says.
"We work on Broadway near Topshop and are so over seeing all those young girls showing so much skin," Lazaro says.

Good for you, boys! Time for folks to stop spending so much money to look like they crawled out of some 80's zombie movie.

Yay! I Got to Drive This Weekend!

This weekend in Baltimore I rented a car. And I fell right back into driving, even though it's been five years.

And I got my fix of being behind the wheel. For now...

Is It Too Early to be Dreaming of Boots?

I'm really diggin' this Dolce Vita for Target colab boot. Get it now and rock it straight into Fall....but since it's only online right now, how will I spend the additional $15 necessary for free shipping?

Guess I'm stocking up on PopTarts

G'day, Marie Claire

Yesterday a big shoot styling a 40's hair and swimsuit feature for Australian Marie Claire with fashion editor, Kate Harrowsmith.  Here's a few behind the scene-rs

(Location: The Catalina Club, Atlantic Beach, New York)

(I could never have planned this lady matching the decor. Sometimes moments just happen.)

(The girl stretching was my favorite of the day and a dead ringer for Parker Posey)

(These two boys played peanut gallery all day)

(and some casual gawking)

(but then what were they supposed to do?)

(I of course ignored the no eating rule)

(the girl in the stripey sweater was always "on", always posing and giving face, face, face, beauty, face)

(people think it's all so glamorous. shoots can be a lot of waiting around)

(and just another day at the office)

(it really was a 'good day', mate)

Oh in Claude's Name!

Ok, if you're going to apply for a fashion focused career, please do your research. This resume REALLY came to my work. Yikes!

Is that Jean Paul's long lost evil twin?

Lanvin's Little Helpers

All day yesterday Lanvin was taking in deliveries of no doubt fabulous little frocks and baubles. The imagination stirs. I cannot wait til the Madison Avenue flagship opens!

But what I truly appreciate is how the painted birds on the storefront remind me of Disney's many princesses and their helper woodland creatures. That's right doves and sparrows, drag in those silks and satins!

Happy Birthday, Momma!

Nice Work if You Can Get It, Christy Turlington

Sometimes my friends and I pretend we're the original Supes (I know, I know, but go with me).  I'm always Linda. There's something so fun about taking on the haughty air of that statuesque chameleon while on the way to  pick up beer and peanut butter. Naomi and Cindy are always snatched up quickly by my crew, but no one ever mentions Christy. I guess there isn't much to mime since she's never been affected by the glamour and glitter. Christy seems like the down to earth girl whom the others call in tears to share their heartbreaks.

Recently interviewed in the UK Telegraph,  she remains poised, wise and humble about a career that's stood the test of time (her famous Maybeline contract is on year 19!)

There's lots of great quotes, but my fave is how she finds her daily tasks as a model so silly:

"I remember doing a shoot for Herb Ritts, hanging off the Eiffel Tower — that wasn't your usual day at the office"

Well, Christy, the next time I'm puttin' on The Trinity strut to Crate and Barrel, I'll grab a lamp post Gene Kelly style and pretend I'm you clutching the wrought iron of Paris in a diaphanous Westwood gown. Sounds like a good work day to me.

Takin' it to the Street

If you're looking for something to do this weekend I highly recommend the Hester Street Fair.

My friend Miss LG introduced me to this great little Lower East Side market filled with vintage clothing, antique and handmade jewelry, homemade macarons, upcycled  housewares and a misting booth to cool down after all that shopping (and maybe an impromptu ping-pong match at the center court?)

radiant salad or Cookie Crisp bowls upcycled from old records

my new friend, George Yzquierdo's jewelry collection is unrivaled. So many goodies, but I fell hardest for these Kenneth Jay Lane pieces. I want that dangly frog brooch!

and I spotted this horse pin for Mr Taurus

I wussed out and dodged the Thai Chili, opting instead for the yummers Red Velvet and Honey Butter Cream, a new flavor they were experimenting with that I couldn't stop raving over. Delish!
