Memorial Jeans

It's Memorial Day and I'm reliving a fashion memory.

Back in 2006/2007, I wore the H out of these dark skinnies.

The fit and feel were so brilliant and for a solid minute, you couldn't get these off me. I got so many compliments on them too and everyone was always floored when I responded they were not designer but JC Penney's.

They're now "only on special occasions" jeans as they are on their last thread. Today I'm wearing them for a nice memory of when I lived way uptown and was married to Miss Malloy.

Advance to Boardwalk

Just got back from a fun-tastic 48 hrs in Atlantic City with Mr Taurus.

We didn't gamble but we saw sooo many sights:

Dino!

Feral Cats

Our View from the Showboat Hotel

Mr Taurus discovering cable tv

The Ocean

Where we sailed off to a magical fashion island:

Where Miss Ross lives:

And Lou Rawls keeps her company

And monkeys in banana print bow-ties and bears in "Gucci" tracksuits are on display

But we made it home in time for dinner at the "French Quarter Buffet"

And many, many drinks at the hotel bar (where it's always Mardi Gras!)

I don't think it's much of a gamble to say we had a blast!

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Brush

I'm not neat. I'm not immaculate.  And no one has ever called me pristine.

My hair has always followed suit and is in a constant state of wild and wavy

But just recently, I fell in love with a former enemy: the hairbrush.

Brushing my hair has always been too much a chore, one that never really yielded results worth the effort. The hairbrush and I never really got each other.

That is until lately.

And really why was there such bitterness before anyway? We're just different. That doesn't instantly make one of us bad or good.

And look at what can happen when we put our powers together

Yet like Romeo and Juliet before me, I know this love affair has no future. We are not meant to be.

Right now, though, we have an understanding.

Wanna Be On Top? 'Fo' Sho!

Oh go Fo from Cycle 12 of America's Next Top Model for landing the Adidas campaign!

And I'm pretty sure she was in last season's campaign too. Kudos girl!

Charm Cit-Tee

(Most amazing t-shirt ever, $19.95 at Atomic Books, atomicbooks.com)

Just last weekend I saw a guy on the street rockin' a t-shirt with "I heart B-More". I, of course, shouted "Baltimore!" at him and he replied in a softer "f**k yeah!"

I thought nothing of this exchange, as this is the normal way to show mad love for Baltimore.

Then I was telling that tale to my friend back home, Miss A.R. She sent me the link to the t-shirt pictured above. Ha!

Small Baltimore lovin' world.

Fashion Inspiration

Thursday morning Mr Taurus and I were chatting on the subway about where we draw our fashion inspiration. He may be one of the few fellas whose style I admire. He's got an eclectic tousled look with an edge and he's currently inspired by mail order brides. Love it.

When prompted, I wasn't sure where my current inspiration draws. Recent muses run the gambit from my sister in art school, the Gorton's Fisherman, 60's Lake Como and Gallagher. There's many more, trust me. I can be a manic mannequin.

But the recent "Rhoda" marathon Mr G and I have been on (thanks Netflix!) is the answer maintenant.

Rhoda and her sister Brenda (brilliantly casted Valerie Harper and Julie Kavner) work all these saturated colors, clashing prints, child like sweaters and, of course, head scarves.

It's like they raided my closet.

Now I wonder what style sources other people draw upon?

Eames On Down the Road

Barneys windows right now feature re-imagined Eames plywood chairs part of an an online auction in support of Operation Design.

I Will Eat Them Up

Google got they logo today all Pac Man themed in honor of the 30th anniversary of Mr Man.

And you can play it too! Nice move, Google.

Buy! Sell! Buy! Sell!

Last nite Miss MT needed some number crunching /office help.

I was happy to help and dress in my best "accountant" attire.

Funny thing? I really enjoyed it. I felt like that Gremlin who drank the smarty pants potion.
